ETHMumbai x Devcon 🇮🇳

Earlier this month, the ETHMumbai team met with the Devcon team to discuss all things Devcon 2026.

We talked about the bigger picture. Why Devcon? Why now? Why India? And how communities can contribute to shaping the conference.

We received ~2,400 hackathon applications in less than a month. All applications have been reviewed, and we are at full capacity with 300+ RSVPs.

Another week, another set of updates. A lot happened in the last week, so let’s get into what went down.

MIP-14: the biggest MIP yet

MIP-14 was one of the most special ones yet, if not the most. The turnout, the energy, and the love was spectable.

It was lovely to see so many of you show up, stay till the very end, shoot content, have conversations, and just hang out.

We also had the Devcon team join the MIP yesterday, which made the evening even more special. Seeing the community come together like this, with so much support and excitement, meant a lot to us.

A very merry Christmas from the Mitra Mandal.

This week, in true ETHMumbai fashion, instead of wrapping paper and secret santa, we decided to do what we do best: ship things and surprise the community.

BEST MIP so far

MIP-13 was certainly one for the books.

In a room full of people who’ve consistently shown up for the Mumbai Ethereum community, we gave away our first batch of conference tickets for free, in the form of physical tickets.

It was a small thank-you token to the people who’ve been building with us and supporting us from the very start.

We also dropped 50 special-price tickets at ₹99, which sold out in an hour. This was followed by the sale of 100 early bird tickets which got sold out in a day!

Safe to say, the excitement is real.

The ETHMumbai team is back from our mini work retreat and straight back to building. December’s been moving fast, and last week was all about shipping, learning, and watching the community show up yet again.

Challenge #2: done and dusted

Last week, we dropped our second developer challenge and asked you to do something deceptively hard: take PeerDAS, a deeply technical Ethereum scalability upgrade, and explain it in a way that even non-technical folks would understand

The responses were strong. Clear explanations, good structure, and some very clean takes on PeerDAS. We’ve announced the winners, and if you missed them, go check them here for some solid inspiration.

Challenge #3 is live!

This week’s challenge is a design one. Your task is to design a POAP for ETHMumbai 2026 that people would love to flaunt

It must include the line “I attended ETHMumbai 2026” and follow the ETHMumbai brand guidelines, but beyond that, this is your playground.

Submissions, as always, are to quote the announcement tweet. Build in public, share your work, and show us what you’ve got.

The next edition of the Ethereum Foundation’s much-loved Devcon will be hosted in Mumbai, India!

The announcement dropped at the end of Devconnect Argentina, and the response has been nothing short of electric. It’s a moment of recognition for all the builders in India who’ve contributed to the decentralization movement over the years.

It’s no coincidence that Mumbai was chosen to be the home of Devcon 8. India is full of relentless builders and innovators, and Mumbai is the soul of it all.

The Femme Forward Lunch brought together women across crypto, tech, and AI for an afternoon of easy conversations, shared experiences, and new connections. It was a small, intentional space where ideas flowed naturally, and everyone left with at least one new friend.

MIPs mark small gatherings where the Mumbai crypto community comes together to collectively build ETHMumbai ,bit by bit.

ETHMumbai started back in 2024 with a small idea and a small tweet. Soon enough, many of you joined hands to make it possible. What followed was a hackathon with 205 hackers, 64 projects, and $29,000 in bounties —made successful by all of us together!

We didn’t host another edition in 2025 because we wanted to do it right and do it big. This year, we’re back with the BEST conference and hackathon because the city that runs on the best deserves the BEST.
